LA Concrete Works FAQ's

Q: Do you offer free estimates?
A: Yes, we do. We can provide a phone consultation (photos are very helpful) or visit your location for an in-person estimate.

Q: Is there a job that is too small?
A: We have a 500 sq. ft. minimum. Special projects below this threshold are subject to review on a case-by-case basis.

Q: What types of finishes do you offer?
A: Exterior: Broom, sand, exposed/seeded aggregate, hard troweled, salt, stamped.
Interior: Stained, sealed, polished, waxed, Micro Cement, overlay.

Q: What is polished concrete?
A: Polished concrete is achieved using industrial grinders to slowly refine the surface to a smooth, honed, and glossy finish.

Q: Do you provide demolition, furniture moving, or appliance relocation?
A: Not typically. If necessary, we can offer these services at an additional cost, though it may not be the most cost-effective option. We also collaborate sometimes with demo contractors.

Q: What areas do you service?
A: We serve areas between Santa Barbara and Orange County. Projects outside this region may be considered, but additional travel charges may apply.

Q: What is hardscape?
A: Hardscape refers to exterior flatwork such as driveways, walkways, patios, courtyards, pool decks, and stairs.

Q: What’s the difference between a Micro Cement and an overlay?
A: Micro Cement is a thin decorative layer applied to an existing surface for aesthetic purposes. Overlays are thicker, self-leveling applications used to correct uneven or damaged surfaces.

Q: Will it crack?
A: Yes, cracks can occur. Cracks in the existing surface may transfer to the new layer. This is normal. We offer semi-rigid membranes to help reduce crack transmission, and on new pours, we use expansion joints to manage and control cracking. Usually these cracks are micro cracks.

Q: Do you install pavers?
A: Yes, we offer paver installation as part of our services.

Q: How do I maintain my concrete surface?
A: Maintenance varies by finish, but generally, it’s similar to other flooring: regular mopping with soap and water. We provide a detailed maintenance guide upon project completion.

Q: Do you offer concrete repair?
A: Yes, but it depends on the condition and scope. In some cases, a full replacement may be a better option than repair. We’re happy to assess and advise.
